The Local - water view

This last summer in the Okanagan was just amazing! It’s my favorite place on Earth and I can’t wait to be there again (maybe move there one day…).

In this post, I’m going to talk about some of my favorite restaurants in the region. It’s just a sample of the marvelous diversity of flavors you will find there. I hope you like it! ;-)

The Local

Located on the lakeshore, this restaurant is a gift for the senses. The décor reminds me of the casual sophistication of the 90’s. The view is amazing, so try to get a seat on the patio (I don’t care if it’s -10C, I love patios!). Just sit back, relax, and sip your Caesar, Mimosa, or favorite wine while absorbing all the greatness of the universe.

Amazing views, delicious food, and great service are waiting for you!

Bad Tattoo Brewing

You know what? I love wine! But variety is the best of life, right? And when we visited this brewery in Penticton, I was pleasantly surprised to taste great beer and great food in the same place.

The beer was supposedly discovered by accident, when (a very long time ago) people used to ferment bread dough in their houses, with natural wild yeast found in the air (but they didn’t know what yeast was). Until one day, the bread dough fermented for too long and (TADAH!!!) produced alcohol. It’s not weird, therefore, that a brewery would serve a fantastic pizza (bread dough, pizza dough… you got it!).

Jerk chicken pizza

The place has a great atmosphere and décor for your enjoyment while you’re sipping (or chugging) your beer and snacking (or stuffing your face) your pizza.

The Low Carb - The Bear's Den

Located in the Coast Penticton Hotel, this family style diner is a must-see in your trip. Several times awarded the “Best Breakfast in Penticton”, this lovely restaurant will grab you by the stomach.

Last time I was there I had The Low Carb (which I almost forgot to take a picture of because it was so appetizing), a breakfast burrito with eggs, bacon, cheese, and tomatoes, served with fresh fruit. Simply delicious!

I can’t oversell it. Just go there and tell me what you think.

The Bear’s Den: 950 Westminster Avenue West - Penticton, BC – (250) 490-9972

The Beanery Scramble

The owners are Dutch, the furniture is from Holland, the coffees are organic, and the pastries are fantastic! What else do we need?

The menu is concise and the specials are on the board. For breakfast, I’m always between the Protein Power Wrap and the Beanery Scramble (with ham). Excellent if you’re going for a hike or a day of wine tasting, it will keep you satisfied for a long time.

But don’t refrain from checking the pastries window. Everything is so beautiful and tasting, that you will not regret of taking one or two to eat on the go.

The Beanery Café: 13016 Victoria Rd N, Summerland, BC - (250) 494-1884

The last on this list is a classic of the classics. Located on the lakeshore, the water view is not the most important feature of this charming piece of Germany. Inside, you’ll find enough curious objects to get your attention for hours. I can’t wait to go there again, there are so many things I couldn’t see on my first visit!

The food is just superb! My boyfriend and I had the same dish: double schnitzel with späetzle and Caesar salad (Sunday special). And you have to go there and see it for yourself because I ate everything before I even though about taking a picture (sorry, I’m an ogre).

Gasthaus Peachland

It was saucy, juicy, tender, crunchy, and everything else one would expect from a comfort food manual.

Gasthaus: 5790 BEACH AVE, PEACHLAND, BC – (250) 767-6625

This is what I had for today and hope you’ve enjoyed it!
